Georgia Governor Signs Historic Rehab Tax Credit Legislation - Tuesday, May 20, 2008 Georgia Gov. Sonny Perdue has signed a bill (HB 851) that enhances the state’s historic rehabilitation tax credit. It increases the credit rate for projects to 25% from 20% (from 10% previously for residential projects, 20% for commercial projects. It also boosts the per-project credit cap to $300,000 for commercial projects (up from $5,000 per building) and to $100,000 for residential projects. The law takes effect next January 1.

Georgia Gov. Proposes Biofuel Tax Incentive
Georgia Gov. Sonny Perduehas proposed a sales tax exemption for materials and equipment used in the construction of biofuel facilities in Georgia, The Atlanta Business Chronicle reports. The four percent tax incentive could mean annual savings of $2 million to 4 million. Facilities must produce fuels from Georgia-grown agriculture products and biomass.
